<p><strong>Vi&ntilde;edo Chadwick</strong></p> <p>The history is one of <strong>transformation&mdash;from a private family polo field to a world-renowned wine estate.</strong></p> <div class="dad65929"> <div class="_4f9bf79 d7dc56a8 _43c05b5"> <div class="ds-message _63c77b1"> <div class="ds-markdown"> <ul> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"><strong>Origins (1940s):</strong>&nbsp;The land in Puente Alto (Alto Maipo) was originally a polo field owned by&nbsp;<strong>Alfonso Chadwick Err&aacute;zuriz</strong>, a prominent businessman and champion polo player. His son,&nbsp;<strong>Eduardo Chadwick</strong>, current President of Vi&ntilde;a Err&aacute;zuriz, grew up playing polo there.</p> </li> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"><strong>A Father's Vision (1990s):</strong>&nbsp;On his deathbed in 1992, Alfonso Chadwick expressed his dream that this exceptional land, with its alluvial terraces and ideal climate, could produce a great Chilean wine that would honor the family name.</p> </li> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"><strong>The First Vintage (1999):</strong>&nbsp;Eduardo Chadwick, already leading Vi&ntilde;a Err&aacute;zuriz, fulfilled his father's wish. He planted the polo field to Bordeaux varieties, focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon. The first official vintage of&nbsp;<strong>Vi&ntilde;edo Chadwick</strong>&nbsp;was released in 1999.</p> </li> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"><strong>The Berlin Tasting &amp; Global Recognition (2004, 2011):</strong></p> <ul> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph">Inspired by the Judgment of Paris, Eduardo Chadwick organized a series of "Berlin Tastings" starting in 2004, blind-pitting Chadwick and Se&ntilde;a against top Bordeaux and Super Tuscans.</p> </li> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph">The&nbsp;<strong>2011 Berlin Tasting was historic</strong>. The&nbsp;<strong>Vi&ntilde;edo Chadwick 2011</strong>&nbsp;(tasted en primeur) placed&nbsp;<strong>first</strong>, ahead of Ch&acirc;teau Latour and other First Growths. This landmark event definitively proved Chile's capability to produce world-class wines and catapulted Vi&ntilde;edo Chadwick to iconic status.</p> </li> </ul> </li> <li> <p class="ds-markdown-paragraph"><strong>Legacy:</strong>&nbsp;Today, Vi&ntilde;edo Chadwick is considered&nbsp;<strong>one of Chile's "First Growths"</strong> and a benchmark for premium Cabernet Sauvignon from the Maipo Valley.
