The 2016 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a ripe and feisty bouquet with maraschino cherries, black plums, just a touch of wild hedgerow and just a very slight Plimsoll scent. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin. There is good substance to this Clos de Vougeot, gently gripping the mouth with a focused, mineral-led finish that is very satisfying. Not quite up there with the 2015 but still a very fine wine.
