An earthy and smoky nose of red currants, plum, violets and whiffs of forest floor precede the bold, robust and sleekly muscular flavors that possess a very firm tannic spine that imparts a borderline chewy texture to the serious, backward and very primary finish. This offers better overall depth though note that ample cellar time will be required and this will easily outlive its two Beaune 1er counterparts.
