This has just enough reduction to shave the top notes from the nose where hints of earth and dark berries can still be discerned. Otherwise there is terrific punch, detail and power to the tautly muscular, vibrant and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that are supported by very firm tannins on the ever-so-mildly austere and gorgeously persistent finale. As is often the case with this wine, it's both restrained and compact at present but everything is in place such that it should age beautifully. In a word, excellent.
