A deft though not invisible application of wood serves as a backdrop for the spicy and earthy aromas of both red and dark currant that displays a marked sauvage element. The mouth feel of the broad-shouldered flavors is restrained and surprisingly supple, indeed it is almost supple though the finish tightens up enough to suggest that this should reward mid-term cellaring. Overall this seems a bit less impressive than usual though I do like the complexity.
